The Cattle Guards or Auto Gates are designed for strength and to permit the least amount of injury to your livestock. There are no sharp edges. They are made from Drill Stem Pipe (upstart from the oil fields) so all the edges are round, to prevent injury. Each pipe has a 4" space so the trapped animal can pull its leg out. I have chosen to weld 3/4" blocks on each pipe. So the welds will be more to the center of each pipe. This stops the rocking of the pipe that occurs if they were welded more to the bottom of each pipe. There is a side plate on each side that keeps the road from working in between each main beam. The main beams are 4 1/2" pipe and the top rails (pipe) are  2 7/8" outside diameter. The main beams are on 2 foot centers with 13 pieces of 2 7/8" pipe on top. The design for these cattle guards is the same as used by the county road department. The Fish, Wildlife, and Parks has also used this same design. Wings for the Cattle Guard are made from 2"x 2"x 1/4 angle iron. They are made to slide inside the second pipe on each side of the Cattle Guard, on each end of the Cattle Guard. I have also designed a Cattle Guard or Auto Gate for Sport Vehicles, (4 Wheelers, Motorcycles, ATV's).
